Dr. Caroline Rogers

Dr. Caroline Rogers is a marine ecologist with the US Geological Survey specializing in research on coral reefs. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University and received her PhD in ecology from the University of Florida. She is the Vice President of The International Society for Reef Studies.

In 2005, Dr. Rogers was honored with an award from the US Coral Reef Task Force for her "outstanding efforts to increase scientific understanding of coral reef conservation by advancing long term study and assessment of reef condition, and for promoting the application of science toward effective management of coral reef ecosystems."

Dr. Rogers' extensive collection of photographs of corals, fish, sea turtles, and other organisms inhabiting the reef, seagrass beds, and mangroves around St. John combines her scientific expertise with her appreciation for the Caribbean seascape. She has donated countless photographs for use in scientific and nontechnical publications, presentations, and educational websites and newsletters.
