"Growing up on a farm in rural Minnesota instilled in me a love of the outdoors and nature even in the winter. However, my husband and I would always try to escape to a warmer climate every winter and as a result, have traveled to many islands in the Caribbean. While they all have their own beauty, we were struck by the beautiful beaches in the US Virgin Islands. We recently made a trip back to our beloved St. Thomas and St. John and fell in love all over again.
Being an avid pallet knife painter, I immediately was inspired to paint the beautiful beaches. The color of the water is unique. Many different shades of turquoise. This is what inspires me, variegated strokes of color and thick texture. To me, it makes a painting interesting and beautiful. So back home I go dreaming of the beautiful beaches we left behind. Every painting I create takes me back to those special days spent in St. Thomas and St. John and trying to decide which beach is my favorite."
