Crucian Bayside Creations

Tradition & Culture

"A family hobby turned into a passion. The technique for handcrafting baskets was passed down from our aunt, Eileen Henry-Huggins. She enjoys teaching basket weaving and inspired us to keep the cultural art alive. Our traditional Crucian-style market baskets represent the Shoe Baskets of the Hebrides and the melon Baskets of the Appalachia area. Our ancestors used them to carry produce and provisions on the market day in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands."
